Genesis I & II represents the slow unlocking of the artist’s emotional universe to herself. The process begins in somatic therapy sessions, where a trapped emotion is visualized through the body, and then onto paper with gouache and pencil. The result is scanned and fed through GAN, utilizing verbiage from the somatic session. The repetition of this process trains the AI about specific emotional states and its stylistic expressions, to finally unlock artwork that feels true to body and mind. This artwork would not have been possible without repetition and conscious awareness of both body and machine.
